Once, whilst standing in my stairwell, I noticed the open door to an apartment that had been vacated in an obvious and unusual hurry. Everything had simply been abandoned, including the remains of the last evening meal. I managed to ascertain that that the apartment’s last tenent had indeed relinquished it to the owner of the building, also adding that he didn’t need anything that he had left behind. I decided to make the most of this opportunity. The abandoned belongings loudly and alarmingly bore witness to the apartment’s previous tenants. Looking around the hundreds of perfectly ordinary, everyday, sometimes unusual and sometimes indecipherable objects, from being a simple observer I became an emotionally involved person - I knew everything about his life, family, friends interests, everyday life, even his dreams and dramas. Due to this experience a work was created that in my mind, created a suspicion about how people leave an imprint about their personality and their era in a space they have occupied. Our lives overlap, all of us live in another person’s previous place, we live over and on top of them.
